The Los Rios Promise to Career Scholarship provides support to students in our career education programs to help remove barriers to success. This year, we are focusing on the 15 health and safety programs that have remained on ground because they have been deemed essential to combating the pandemic. Examples of these programs include:

  • Advanced Imaging
  • EMT/Paramedic
  • Fire Academy
  • Occupational Therapy Assistant
  • Nursing
  • Physical Therapy Assistant
  • Respiratory Care

In May 2021, 200 students will graduate and be ready to go out and get to work. However, they have one last hurdle before they can do so: completing their testing and licensing, so they are certified to work in their chosen field. Testing and licensing fees typically run $500 or more. For many of our students – who have already experienced the dire economic effects created by the pandemic – these costs are an extra barrier.

The Promise to Career Fund will provide "finish line" scholarships to these students to help them with the costs of testing and licensing so they can obtain their credentials and get to work. You can make a difference in these students' lives through your gift!
