The Los Rios Colleges Foundation provides mini grants to help faculty, staff, and clubs improve student success or teaching/learning effectiveness in innovative ways.

How Mini Grants Are Used

Mini grants can be used to buy equipment/supplies* or help support research, coursework, or other special projects or activities.

Mini grant funds should not be used for ongoing program support, instructional equipment, to compensate Los Rios employees, or to supplant money already in a departmental budget.

*All purchases of equipment, supplies, and services must adhere to Los Rios Community College District purchasing guidelines.

How to Apply for a Mini Grant

All faculty, staff, and student-sanctioned clubs (with advisor involvement) are eligible to apply for a mini grant.

Application Period

Applications are accepted annually, usually during the month of March.

Application Materials

Each college's Office of Philanthropy will email an updated application form to faculty and staff each spring. Those interested in a mini grant must submit an application, proposal, and any supporting documentation. Application materials should clearly state any additional resources that will be used to defer project costs.

Priorities and Areas of Interest

The Office of Philanthropy prioritizes proposals that demonstrate direct support for students and directly relate to each college's vision, mission, and student learning outcomes. Priority is also given to projects or activities that were not funded by a mini grant during the previous year.

Funding for Mini Grants

The maximum amount of a regular mini grant is $1,000. The number of awards and amount of each depends on annual fundraising efforts. Mini grants are funded by donations.
