Los Rios Foundation provides support for Sacramento’s community colleges -- American River College, Cosumnes River College, Folsom Lake College and Sacramento City College. Founded in 1978, the Foundation raises money to assure that our students receive the highest quality education, regardless of their own financial and personal circumstances.
We are a group of committed community members who believe in the future of California. We also believe that the future success of the Sacramento region depends, in large part, on the economic competitiveness of the region. A critical part of that competitiveness is the education level of our residents, and no one does more to assure that Sacramento’s workforce is well educated, trained and ready for tomorrow’s knowledge-based economy than Los Rios colleges.
Los Rios colleges are well known for their exceptional educational programs and building careers of distinction. Programs such as the Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts program at American River College, the Building Trades and Construction Technology program at Cosumnes River College, Visual and Performing Arts at Folsom Lake College, and Healthcare Professions such as Registered Nursing and Dental Hygiene at Sacramento City College. Community colleges offer realistic and practical ways to help all people realize their dreams. The Los Rios Foundation was established to help the colleges in the Los Rios District reach new heights of excellence in the fulfillment of their promise to help all students bring their dreams to fruition.
The Foundation itself is a private, non-profit public benefit corporation designated a 501(c)3 corporation by the Internal Revenue Service. We have a board of almost forty members and a district development team of 5 staff members.
